Bees

In 2009, one of our worshippers, Anthony Garner, initiated a project to install Bee Hives at St Peter's. Starting with one hive in 2009, this was upgraded to two hives in 2012.

There are currently two communities of bees: Italian Honey Bees and English Honey Bees.

Anthony has been trained in how to look after the bees. The Parochial Church Council and congregation members have supported the programme.

Bee populations in Great Britain have been dwindling rapidly as they have succumbed to various diseases. We hope the St Peter’s colony will help redress this balance in some small part.
