In September 2019, Fr Peter Andrews retired from the post of Vicar of St Peter's. The period during which a new priest is chosen, is called an interregnum.
As of Tuesday 31st March 2020, we are pleased to announce that the Reverend Steffan Mathias will take up the post of Priest-in-Charge of St Peter's.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, it is not clear when Fr Steffan will be able to commence and we will need to see more things return to normal before he will be able to start.
In the mean time, St Peter's remains closed for worship, but online resources are available for you to pray from home and to reflect on the Sunday lessons.
If you have a query or request, you can send an email to:
For urgent matters, there is a contact telephone number on the footer of this website page.
Please remember St Peter's and Fr Steffan in your prayers during this period as we await the ending of the pandemic crisis and being able to welcome Fr Steffan to our parish.
Prayer for the interregnum
Heavenly Father, we ask that you will help us share responsibility, grow in faith, love one another, care for those in need, reach out to others, and welcome newcomers.
Lord Jesus, guard and grow this church as we serve you together and as we wait for our new priest to be able to start at St Peter's. Please guide those who lead the church in the interregnum.
Lord we pray in thanks for the appointment of Fr Steffan, and we pray for Fr Steffan as he prepares to say goodbye to the congregation of St Mary the Virgin in Lewisham.
Lord we pray through your mercy that with Fr Steffan we may discover your way for the future and see your Kingdom grow.
